How are the low-income, the disabled, and the elderly going to be able to purchase private HC insura

Hillary said that she would make it a %26quot;mandate%26quot; for all Americans to purchase private healthcare insurance. Romney and Guiliani say that people can purchase health care insurance through tax credits, and...?

With 47 million uninsured Americans unable to get it, how can our candidates and government EXPECT people like me to able to afford between $1800 to $3000 a month private health insurance policies?

Has anyone really put some serious *thought* into addressing this crisis with the uninsured and low-income--instead of just adding what I see as %26quot;Band-Aid%26quot; solutions to a growing problem here in the country?

How are the low-income, the disabled, and the elderly going to be able to purchase private HC insurance?

Without socialized med and care, there will be no way to accomplish this. What would happen, in my view, is that insurance companies will raise their prices.......as every company does when the govt. starts to pay part of the cost. Small business people, mainly, cannot afford health care costs as it is. Disabled, elderly, as I am, cannot afford anything except medicare and sometimes, AARP help. It would take a total revamping, and putting lids on prices. However, I do know that medicines are highly marked up from their costs. I know this, as my husband once worked for a company where I was allowed to buy medicine at cost plus 10 per cent. I was worried, one day, when I needed to buy meds for my infant..........but, found the very expensive medication to cost me 33 cents, when I only had to pay cost plus 10 % ! I have been angry at the pharmacies since that time.

How are the low-income, the disabled, and the elderly going to be able to purchase private HC insurance?

Perhaps if you neocons actually knew anything but the lies Rush Limbaugh feeds you you could figure it out.

Its called %26quot;Medicare%26quot; and all elderly and disabled people already have it. It is regular health insurance--we pay premiums just like everyone else, though they are somewhat ceaper.

Its been around for 40 years--and Hillary specifically said that program will remain in effect and unchanged.

Don%26#039;t you neocons EVER check your facts??????????????

How are the low-income, the disabled, and the elderly going to be able to purchase private HC insurance?

People who are elderly, low-income and disabled who are not eligible for medicare or medicaid will have a new expanded program under social security.

I am disabled and low income and work and do not have health insurance. So I am looking forward to this requirement. No longer will they be able to refuse to sell me insurance or try to sell it to me at such a preposterous price that it leaves me penniless.

This is the closest thing to National Health that we are going to get until the conservatives learn/ understand how important it is to our economy that this is a healthy country.

How are the low-income, the disabled, and the elderly going to be able to purchase private HC insurance?

and some of the candidates are saying that they will make health ins. available across the board for those of us that are low-income and on disability.

How are the low-income, the disabled, and the elderly going to be able to purchase private HC insurance?

My suggestion is to apply for Medicare but unlike what crabby blindguy seems to think it is not that easy for everyone. My sister has sever asthma which is the number one cause for her losing jobs, yet because she actually works they feel she makes to much on her medico job that doesn%26#039;t pay well and they keep denying her so you need to get your fact strait before you insult someone. Not to mention no insurance wants to cover her because her med expenses are outrageous.

How are the low-income, the disabled, and the elderly going to be able to purchase private HC insurance?

As a person who has resided in a country with socialized medicine and watched the problems the UK has with their medical programs, I can say when you hear Hillary talk about health care, run real fast the other way.

I have known several Canadians who were wealthy and very unhappy with healthcare in Canada and they came to the US to get %26quot;good%26quot; (their term not mine) medical care.

There has to be a solution that will provide good medical care to all but I don%26#039;t know what it is and I don%26#039;t think any of the people running do either.

Why isn't there more protest when TV stations and movie channels "squeeze" out the cl

Just to make room to promote other movies, shows, etc? If I worked on a movie, I would be really TICKED that the second the credits start to roll, they squeeze them over to the side where you can%26#039;t even read them. Also, I don%26#039;t know about you, but I think in many cases, the closing credits are important to the overall experience, either because the background music creates a certain atmosphere that gives closure to the film, or because they are showing %26quot;outtakes%26quot; behind the credits, or whatever. Am I the only one who cares about the closing credits ? It was bad enough when TV networks were the only ones doing it, but now even a lot of the movie channels have jumped on the bandwagon.

Why isn%26#039;t there more protest when TV stations and movie channels %26quot;squeeze%26quot; out the closing credits of movies?

But as the watcher and the station manager, we don%26#039;t care about it at all. I get up and do things until the next show comes on and the station programmers know this. Ergo they still show them, but keep the watcher interested by putting on the next program. Hope this helps!!!

Why isn%26#039;t there more protest when TV stations and movie channels %26quot;squeeze%26quot; out the closing credits of movies?

The actors in the movie are getting paid way to much for their movie to be played on TV... and the television station owns the rights to squeeze those credits. Trust me... they have paid plenty for the abililty to show the movie, if you paid that much you would want to be able to do it too.

Why isn%26#039;t there more protest when TV stations and movie channels %26quot;squeeze%26quot; out the closing credits of movies?

I hate that too! Sometimes I find myself watching a movie that I don%26#039;t really like just to see the credits for a certain actor or song from the movie then they show like 5 names and then make the screen so tiny you have no chance of reading the names!

Paying off debt?!?

Okay, I%26#039;ll admit I screwed up my credit in my late teens/early 20%26#039;s... I have paid off all but 2 store credit cards and I have my two major credit cards (Chase Manhattan and Capital One) in the hands of attorneys that I have payment arrangements with. I%26#039;ve settled on a few of these cards (meaning I paid a rate lower than my actual balance to pay the card entirely off). I have not made a purchase using a credit card since January 2005! Do you think at some point in the future, I would be able to ever get a credit card again that%26#039;s not secured? Also, how long does it take after I pay off a card to get reported to the credit bureau as being taken care off? One more (phew!)- how am I supposed to save with this debt?! I%26#039;ve got a car payment, too ($318.00 per month- thanks to bad credit!)! Any pointers would be a huge help! Thank you kindly :)

Paying off debt?!?

Hey, well I%26#039;m glad that you%26#039;re taking responsiblity for your actions, and you%26#039;ve seen the err in your ways. I%26#039;m not going to be like a couple of posters on here and scold you for what%26#039;s happened in the past. People make mistakes, or the guy that put rubber at the end of pencils wouldn%26#039;t be a genius right now.

I%26#039;ll try to answer the questions that you had in order:

1. Yes, sometime in the future you should be able to get a credit card that%26#039;s not secured. Orchard Bank%26#039;s a good place if you%26#039;re rebuilding credit, but I want to say a couple of things first. Since you haven%26#039;t used a credit card in almost 2 years is a good thing, hopefully now you see how they%26#039;re supposed to be used very lightly to show activity, and in dire emergencies when your checking and savings accounts just won%26#039;t cover it. To be honest with you, a secured credit card would be a better option because you can control the credit line by adding to the deposit and most if not all the deposits gain interest while you%26#039;re buildling credit. This is a great way to discipline yourself to sock a little cash here and there without touching it. Any secured credit card that you get chances are will have a low limit and and high interest rate. At least with a secured credit card you get a fighting chance and you control the credit line.

2.Normally for anything that%26#039;s paid to the credit bureaus can take 30-60 days from when you paid it. Also, like the other poster said, it%26#039;s likely that you may have to pay taxes on the settled amount, so I%26#039;d definitely keep an eye on that.

3. How you can save is to evaluate your budget on everything that you spend and see what can you sacrifice. If you start off by what you can save for that day, usually the week, and ultimately the month will take care of itself.

Now, I don%26#039;t agree with some of the posters on here that you don%26#039;t need to use credit. I%26#039;ve used credit responsibly for years and I%26#039;m debt free. There%26#039;s an old saying that %26quot;It%26#039;s better to have something and not need it, instead of needing something and not having it.%26quot;

I hope this answer helps

Paying off debt?!?

閳?I am going through the same thing... but I%26#039;m 19... I got myself into some debt with a cell phone company and 2 checks written that I had the money for at the time, but when it went through it didnt... it got all messed up. I%26#039;ve legally paid for the two bad checks in full.. however I have this cingular bill for $1211.00... They have offered to settle for $606 which would be GREAT!, but I just dont have the money to pay them by August 4th when they want... I%26#039;ve written a zillion letters and have tried to make payment arrangements but the only options they give me are pay $1211, pay half now and half in 10 days, or pay the 606 by August 4th. I really need to work on my credit, because my fiance and I will be trying to get into a house very soon and I need the credit...

閳?Sorry I babbled... as for your situation.. did you get the car before or after you%26#039;d paid some of the debt? Because if you got it before, then take it back to the dealer/bank and see if you can get a lower interest rate and a lower monthly payment. In some cases they will do that. If you paid some off then got the car simply keep up on your cc payments and work on establishing better credit.

Good Luck!

Paying off debt?!?

Hon, go to this web site www.daveramsey.com (I%26#039;m pretty sure that%26#039;s his addy) and read about how to get debt free. He%26#039;s been there, I%26#039;ve bben there and now own a home free and clear...NO MORTGAGE. You can also listen to him on radio, but go to web site and find out where for your location. He really can help and does not ask for your money!!!

Oh, and did anyone tell you you will have to pay taxes on the money that the credit card companies %26quot;write off%26quot;? Yep, it%26#039;s true...we went through this three years ago and got a 1099 form from Household Bank and our tax accountant said it%26#039;s a good thing too cause they can come back in a few years and ram you for it and the interest. SO be careful about settling those cards folks!!

Paying off debt?!?

After all you%26#039;ve been through, why in the world would you ever want another credit card? It%26#039;s great that you haven%26#039;t used a credit card since 2005. There%26#039;s no reason to ever use one again. Unless you like being in debt and want to go through all this again.

1. Get on a written budget. You%26#039;ll be amazed at where you money goes. List essentials first: lights, water, mortgage, food. etc. Then your other bills.

2. Save 1000 dollars into an emergancy fund. Have the emergency fund so you don%26#039;t have to charge when Murphy comes.

3. I%26#039;m going to challenge your assertion that you have a 318 dollar car payment because of bad credit. You have a 318 dollar car payment because you bought the car you did. You could have found something cheaper, right? Consider selling the car and getting something cheaper.

4. Pay cash.

Paying off debt?!?

its good that you are taking steps to get your debts paid off. Your credit score/report is a lot like getting healthy/losing weight. It takes time and can be a big pain, but overall you will be able to make progress and there is very little that will have a permanent effect.

I would go ahead and contest the debts that you have already settled. In some cases a collector will no longer respond to the credit bureaus request to update data if there is no longer a financial interst in the debt.. if they fail to respond it will pop off your credit report... Also, when you settle I would try and write up a stipulation that the creditor will no longer make any verbal or written communications about the debt in any form in perpetuity... this will also prevent them from responding to your contesting the debt...

There are a lot of places that can give you help and guidance, I would just choose wisely,. with time and effort it shouldnt cost you anything.

Also, you may have to pay taxes on the settlements (IF the written off amount is over $600 and is applied against the amount of your insolvency...)

Best of luck

Paying off debt?!?

Inform the credit card company about your emergency situation and the debt it caused. Explain to them your financial condition, and any foreseeable improvement that you are able to visualize. Credit card companies thrive on their clients and they don%26#039;t want to loose them. A client who is willing to repay all the debt is a very good asset for them, which they would like to keep forever.

If you are unable to handle debt personally, seek credit counseling and get pertinent advice, so as to get rid of the debt as soon as possible.

If you have more than one credit cards and the confusion on handling their repayment schedule caused you this debt, try debt consolidation. It can be both secured and unsecured. Debt consolidation will help you turn multiple credit card debts into a single one with easier repayment option. Read more from: http://www.credit-card-gallery.com/artic...

Can someone decifer this "special test"?

Applying this special test to divorced or separated parents. If a child is treated as the qualifying child of the noncustodial parent under the rules for children of divorced or separated parents described earlier, only the noncustodial parent can claim an exemption and the child tax credit for the child. However, the noncustodial parent cannot claim the child as a qualifying child for head of household filing status, the credit for child and dependent care expenses, the exclusion for dependent care benefits, and the earned income credit. Only the custodial parent or other eligible taxpayer can claim the child as a qualifying child for these four tax benefits. If the custodial parent and another eligible taxpayer both claim the child as a qualifying child for any of these four tax benefits, the IRS will disallow all but one of the claims using the tie-breaker rule in Table 6.

Can someone decifer this %26quot;special test%26quot;?

Maybe an example would make it easy.

Child lives with Mom. Mom allows Dad to claim the child by giving him a Form 8332 which he files with his tax return.

Dad gets the exemption and the Child Tax Credit. That%26#039;s all that he gets. He files as Single.

Mom files as Head of Household, claims the Child Care Credit and Earned Income Credit.

Screw the system..?

You have a 200 dollar credit card. thangs happen and woops you cant pay it and it goes on your credit. They close your account. Your credit goes down. You pay it off and your credit goes down again. I am tired of it. What have you done to screw the system? and dont tell me how to raise my credit score cause i dont care, I want to screw the system. I dont want someone to tell me how to raise my score or how to pay my bills. Things happen. The goverenment taxes my paycheck and then tax the stuff I buy... I want my money back. So if there are any devils out there give me your worst! if you have a problem with this post you can find another happy post you can answer. I will be happy to give anyone a thumbs down.

Screw the system..?

If You don%26#039;t care about %26quot;YOU%26quot;, why should WE? Just do wot aver you fill, and fix you anger.

P.S. I check your profile, you are very intelligent man, what happen? Did you have to much to drink, or your mother in low still driving you crazy.

Screw the system..?

Commit a non-violent crime which results in jail time. Live for free for a while, go to school, earn an education.

Have terrible medical condition - do above - force jailers to pay for heart transplant.

Get another credit card, don%26#039;t pay it off. Die. Leave a balance which can never be collected.

Screw the system..?

Sounds like you have all the answers. What%26#039;s the question?

Screw the system..?

There use to be a poker player that won the worlds championship at blackjack poker for numerous years, he was asked once what rules does one use when playing. His comment was %26quot;The rules in poker are the same as the rule in life.%26quot; It is the Golden Rule. If you want a chance to get someone%26#039;s gold you have to play by their rules.

Best way to screw the system is don%26#039;t buy on credit, or consider using someone else%26#039;s credit.

Bankruptcy or Foreclosure/?

My house has been for sale for 6 months. I am struggling to make payments on everything including $9000.00 worth of

debt other than my home loan. I am facing a negative equity situation even if house sells and I don%26#039;t know where I%26#039;d get the money to bring to closing if need be. My credit is perfect and I am getting married in June. I won%26#039;t need the credit so I can live with bad credit for a while if need be as we don%26#039;t plan to buy anthing together. Anything we do buy in the future will be in his name.. I do not want the bankruptcy or foreclosure to impact my husband-to-be%26#039;s credit I need to take care of this before we get married right?. It%26#039;s my problem. Not his.

What is the quickest way to a clean slate? Bankruptcy or Foreclosure? I keep hearing about people who are facing a negative equity situation and have been making timely pmts, but know they won%26#039;t be able to pay for the difference when they sell their house for less %26amp; they just stop making payments allowing foreclosure.

Bankruptcy or Foreclosure/?

You can file a individual bankruptcy in only your name and it will not affect your spouse (or soon to be spouses) credit.

When you stop making the payments on your home the house will go into foreclosure. The state will auction it off. If they sell it for less then you owe, you will be responsible for the %26quot;deficiency balance%26quot; unless you have a non-recourse loan.(certian states) They will then most likely come after you for the balance. You may then want to file bankruptcy (ch. 7) to wipe the debt that they will say you owe clean. (esp. if your in a negative equity situation)

If you want to do an bankruptcy first and keep your house you can %26quot;reaffirm%26quot; your home loan and keep paying that, but have your other debts wiped clean.

Either way, unless your spouse signed the mortgage loan, he will NOT be affected by the bankruptcy or have to file with you.

Good luck with it all :)

Bankruptcy or Foreclosure/?

try short selling your property. You will lose money, but it is better than a foreclosure. Don%26#039;t change your name yet, so he won%26#039;t carry it.

Bankruptcy or Foreclosure/?

Bankruptcy may be the best of your available options.

If done before you wed..it shouldn%26#039;t impact upon your husband-to-be.

You%26#039;ll be a bankrupt on paper...but with your hubby...as long as he is solvent and has good credit...you%26#039;ll manage just fine.

After a number of years...you%26#039;ll be OK again.

Bankruptcy or Foreclosure/?

Before doing either and ruining your credit you might want to talk with a Foreclosure Counciling Service like Free Foreclosure Prevention http://freeforeclosureprevention.net They deal with these situations everyday and can probably help.

Bankruptcy or Foreclosure/?

you might want to look into counseling with a lawyer but i%26#039;ve been told my my friend who works as a realestate agent..that it%26#039;s better to go thru Bankruptcy....there%26#039;s chapter 7 and chapter 13....chapter 7 you pretty much walk away from all your dept and after 5 yrs it should be discharged from your credit and chapter 13 pretty much means that all ur finances get reorganized but your still in debt....foreclosure is really the worse way to go....but once again this is something you should really discuss with a lawyer..they%26#039;ll always give you a better insight...good luck!

Bankruptcy or Foreclosure/?

Lots of people think that once they閳ユ獫e filed for bankruptcy they will be unable to ever get a loan again, and ultimately they are unable to do anything financial ever again. This isn閳ユ獩 always true, there are%26lt;!--always ways to improve your financial standing, and there are also ways to repair your damaged credit rating.

http://best-loans.awardspace.com/Bankrup...

In fact one of the best ways to improve your credit rating is to refinance your home mortgage, this--%26gt;will help to improve your credit history in a number of different ways.

Okay...heres a good one...Help anyone...?

I sell caskets. I got a relay-call from a guy (deaf call)...wants to buy most expensive casket. He says...charge his credit card...he%26#039;ll take care of shipping. Then email him approval code. He%26#039;s in TX, Card holder in Colorado...casket going to Canada and..shipping company in Guam. He calls back...Now, his shipping company doesnt take credit cards. so..he wants me to charge shipping cost of $850 to card...then western union..the shipping money to shipping company. then they will pick up. This happened last month. Many emails...back and fourth...during last relay call..he gives credit card number, then investigator comes on line and reports fraudulant card numbers and must disconnect..he donesnt know she came on. Then..many emails later he realizes I cant do this. Now.....he calls again..this week. .he%26#039;s a different person...same credit card # and calling me at work.. I changed my name and email add for this call. He%26#039;s in area code 801...What do I do?

Okay...heres a good one...Help anyone...?

First of all, he deserves to know when someone else is on the line and you have the responsibility to make sure he is receiving effective communication. Be upfront and tell this person that you had a problem with the card before and that he needs to contact his credit card company. This might not even be a deaf person, but someone using a TTY to try to fraudulently purchase a casket (movie plot anyone?) ... the only thing you have control over is your side of the conversation. What is the business policy if you have someone in the business with a fraudulent card? Do the same thing. Just because the person is using a TTY doesn%26#039;t mean your business practices go out the window. Also, you can contact your local Disability, Business and Technical Assistance Center and they will give you information free of charge.

Okay...heres a good one...Help anyone...?

Time to call the FBI...unless it%26#039;s one of them....

Okay...heres a good one...Help anyone...?

contact your states attourny general and your local dist attourney

Okay...heres a good one...Help anyone...?

i would report him to the credit card company, give them all the info because i think he%26#039;s scamming people. the whole thing sounds weird to me. actually i would contact your local police and ask them what to do.
