Which cleaner(s) work best for wax?

I made the mistake of leaving a candle burning when I went out to dinner. Luckily, the candle burnt itself out before catching anything else on fire. However, now I have dried wax along my counter and in the carpet. A credit card and some steel wool took care of the big chunks, but now I have wax stains along the side of the counter and wax soaked into carpet fibers. The side of the counter is plaster which has been painted over. I guess I could always repaint if needed, but the carpet will be trickier. Any recommendations on what would work best to finish my clean up? Thanks

try freezing the wax then scrape it off........ if this fails then reheat the wax and soak up as much as you can with kitchen roll.

Get an iron and a roll of paper towels, or a bunch of brown paper bags. Set the iron on a low setting. Put the towels or paper bag on top of the wax, and press lightly with the iron. The towels or bags will soak up the wax. You have to switch to clean areas on the towels frequently. This is time consuming, but it does work. On the painted plaster, try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. If that doesn%26#039;t work, you may have to prime then paint. Wax can bleed through.

Goo Gone is good for removing the residue from both carpet and counter tops read instructions on bottle to remove wax

For spilled wax on carpet, use a brown paper bag as a blotter and run a hot iron over it, which will absorb the wax.

Remove candle wax

Candles are great for creating a romantic mood, but the mood can quickly sour if you wind up getting melted candle wax on your fine wood furniture. To remove it, first soften the wax using a blow-dryer on its hottest setting and blot up as much as you can with paper towels. Then remove what%26#039;s left by rubbing with a cloth soaked in a solution made of equal parts white vinegar and water. Wipe clean with a soft, absorbent cloth

Good Luck !
