Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

I work at retail and every so often I get yelled at by people who are offended when I ask to see ID when they use an unsigned credit card. I do this because I care about identity theft and because I am required to do so. There are some who are happy to be asked and thank me, my question is why do people make a big deal about it? It%26#039;s not insulting, it%26#039;s simply a security measure. I would like to hear from both sides if possible.

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

Some people are just retarded. I always offer to show my ID even when they don%26#039;t ask for it.

When I worked in retail, I ALWAYS asked, because I knew if I didn%26#039;t I could get in BIG trouble. My manager always stressed to check, no matter what.

So for some advice, if people get uptight about showing ID (to protect themselves) then simply say, %26quot;sorry, it%26#039;s my job to check%26quot;

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

no

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

It is a compliment!

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

The people who complain have other issues in their lives that they are mistakenly taking out on you. They just see being asked for ID as one more inconvenience in their miserable little life.

I worked retail once...

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

I know it bothers my parents all the time

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

No! I love it. It makes me feel young and look young. I%26#039;m 24!! Keep checking!

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

I always say %26#039;Thank you for checking!%26#039; when they ask for it, but I don%26#039;t really care either way. People who get upset prolly have a stick up you-know-where over some other issue entirely. I wouldn%26#039;t let it get to you; after all you work in retail where I bet you deal with unreasonable, crappy people all the time.

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

Regarding age...I%26#039;m flattered. For a cheque, I know it is part of security and don%26#039;t mind.

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

No When People Ask For My ID I Take It As A Compliment!

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

I have zero problem with it. It is necessary in these times. Whatever is needed to protect all of us , I%26#039;m all for it.

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

I have mine out before the clerk asks me for it, it seems to make their day :-) I%26#039;m not sure why people don%26#039;t like doing this, its the law and for some purchases, the law, also. (tobacco or alcohol) Just be patient with them, ok.

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

its a hassle

If its a customs agent or border guard, I%26#039;m proud and glad to show it. If its a cashier when I buy a box of kleenex tissues, I%26#039;m upset by it. Its not appropriate. It can be an invasion of my privacy.

I%26#039;ll tell you a story, once a cashier added items from the next customer onto my shopping bill. I told the cashier, those things are the next customers things, take them off my bill. The cashier asked me for ID and to fill out a form with name, address, phone... the items never even left the conveyor belt yet. In that case, getting all my personal information and I.D. was not right at all. The cashier made the mistake and was embarrassed. It could open the doors to being stalked, or my into being abused.

Oh, and I get royally ps%26#039;d when I have to bring a passport to visit the local zoo in my own city. If they want picture ID they should put it right on the membership card, and never bother anyone for serious documents like a passport.

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

I think it%26#039;s a compliment. I%26#039;m 25 and the legal age is 18. To be asked for my ID is telling me I look under 18 and that is gravy baby.

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

No, it doesnt bother me. But yeah some people make a big deal about it and give you an attitude.

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

People who don%26#039;t like to show I D are wacko. I am very much flattered when asked to show I D. Worked liquor for over 15 years.

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

its your job. and if they yell at you ask them why they think you shouldnt did they steal the card? then they should be able to produce proof its theirs. i like it when people check it is a security measure. only if i use the debit option do i get a little confused as to why they need it.

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

People are lazy, that%26#039;s all. It%26#039;s an inconvenience...

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

no i prefer retailers do ! if the people get angry it makes you wonder what they are trying to hide...they should be thankful your store cares enough about its customers to check and insure their safety...

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

It is a good thing. Why do they forgo this measure at so many places these days? I am glad you are taking care of us atleast!!

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

i know exactly what your feeling because i have been in your shoes. i will never understand why some people get upset by the sales rep protecting their identity. i guess for some is a nuisance to have to dig out an ID, but if they would just sign the card in the first place they wouldn%26#039;t have to show and ID as much.

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

Well not really, im not offended, cos u r doin ur duty and its my mistake bringing an unsigned credit card

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

no, I have had my credit card stolen a plenty of a times. I agree with you on taking precautionary measures. The people who make a big deal about it have never had their money stolen. Kudos to you and for helping.

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

Yeah, it%26#039;s a pain in the butt sometimes, especially when they want me to take it out of my wallet (from the clear window).

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

it bothers me to be asked of id at a club or bar, because that%26#039;s just annoying. but i feel secure when people ask me for id when i use my credit card. that%26#039;s a good thing to do, keep doing it.

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

sometimes its annoying cause i be using my girls card and sometimes they dont take it even tho i might be doing shopping for her

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

In this case not at all. Its a requirement for them to use theire credit card for them to have signed it upon recieving it, legally you can refuse to serve them.

I think your doing the right thing. Also I suggest you report any abuse to your manager and in repeated cases perhaps take action.

It can be frustrating to be repeatedly asked for ID in bars and clubs, but in this instance, they should be greatfull for you pointing out this to them.

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

I%26#039;ve never been asked for ID for this, but occasionally the checkout person will compare my signature on the receipt to the one on the card.

It doesn%26#039;t bother me, especially since they are required to do so.

What does bother me is if they take more than a few seconds to compare, squint, frown, or make any gesture that makes me feel guilty for something. I%26#039;m white, my husband is not, and his signature gets verified way more often than mine does. I wonder if there%26#039;s something to it?

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

Its nothing wrong with you ,, because you are doing your duty so ....its ok with you because its not unfair and nsulting anybody..For security even on web you have to be asked so many questions ...its just for security....

So take it easy and just do your duty... nevr care abt those people how have doubt about it...

Any way you are people with good and kind heart

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

If I don%26#039;t have it with me, I hope that I don%26#039;t get asked. But when I am asked, it does make me happy that they are trying to stop fraud. And if I don%26#039;t have it and can%26#039;t use my credit card, I don%26#039;t get upset. It seems just impossibly easy to get away with using a card that is not yours. I have used my mom%26#039;s, my sister%26#039;s-with permission, of course-and had no problems. I have even signed with the wrong name on the receipt and nobody noticed.

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

I never object if it is appropriate. But to be asked to show an ID to buy alcohol is absurd; nobody in his right mind could possibly confuse me with a 20-year-old.

Does it bother you to be asked for ID?

No, because I%26#039;m 50.

I%26#039;ve been asked to show my I.D. five times in the past year and a half when buying wine at the grocery store and once at a nice restaurant.

Today at work (I%26#039;m a receptionist) I was discussing the enjoyment of a certain era of music from my teen years with a client who came in. He told me I couldn%26#039;t be the age to remember that music as (he thought) I couldn%26#039;t be more that 35 years old. He was surprised...I%26#039;m used to it and at this point find it amusing (and, yes, also appreciative).
