the reason why im not returning is i fell pregnant 5 weeks after my baby was born whom is one now i went back to work for 11 weeks %26amp; have just given birth 11 weeks ago to my baby girl but it would not pay me to go back to work by the time i pay out on child care %26amp; that is even with help from working tax credit.

Maternity leave?

No, you don%26#039;t have to pay back Maternity Pay if you decide not to return to work. You have rights, so check out http://www.direct.gov.uk to make sure you know exactly what you can and cannot claim. There%26#039;s plenty of help; benefits, etc. that you can get so check out what you%26#039;re entitled to.

Maternity leave?

I never had to pay it back...I never went back....I live in the UK too.

Maternity leave?

No absolutely not, that is your pay and they can%26#039;t ask for it back. You did not agree to comming back if you got paid, I did not go back after my son was born...good luck!

Maternity leave?

i don%26#039;t know. i think u have to return to work for 3 months after maternity leave ends in order not to pay it back. i%26#039;m on maternity leave at the moment and if i don%26#039;t return to work when my leave is finished, i%26#039;m sure i have to pay something back. Check with ur employer

Maternity leave?

Do you mean statutory maternity pay, or additional pay from your employer? You don%26#039;t have to pay back statutory maternity pay - you are entitled to that, but if your employer paid you additional pay they may be able to ask for it back. There are different rules though when you have become pregnant whilst on maternity, best to look at the Inland Revenue website - try http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/families/tmastatu...

Maternity leave?

if you got paid statutory maternity pay then you would not have to pay anything back - if you were paid and contractual maternity pay like full pay for a period of time then you need to check your contract as you may be required to pay the dirrerence back.

Maternity leave?

hi congratulations!

i don%26#039;t think you have to pay it back we get maternity pay because were entitled to it that%26#039;s one of the reasons you pay your NI contributions.

Maternity leave?

My maternity run out Christmas Eve last year and I decided not to go back to work. I havent been told I have to pay any back. Anyway your company claim statutory maternity pay back from the government, you are entitled to this.
